Witchcraft has been around since before Christianity was born. The old religion of witchcraft was started before Christ was born; this goes back a very long way. The word Witch simply means "wise ones" and witchcraft as one word simply means "craft of the wise ones". Here are some important facts that are often misunderstood. 1. Witches do NOT do evil. One of the common stereotypes of witchcraft is that Witches do evil. This is false. Witches follow The Wiccan Rede, which fulfills these eight words: "If it harms none, do what ye will". This basically means that you can do what you wish as long as it harms no one in the process, including yourself. 2. Witches do NOT believe in Satan. In witchcraft there is no Satan or evil god. When Christians thought that Satan had horns they decided that witchcraft was actually worshipping the devil. This is because the God has horns. 3. Witchcraft is a nature-based religion, not unlike the native religion; witchcraft perceives the deity as male and female - the God and Goddess. The Goddess is Mother Nature and Mother Earth, and the Moon represents her. The God is said to be the son of the Goddess and is represented by the Sun. The God is the food, the grain, and the hunt. The reason the God has horns is because prehistoric animals had horns, NOT because the God was/is Satan. This is what caused the death of millions of innocent people. 4. Three-Fold Law. Witches believe in the three-fold law, which means if you do something, good or bad, it comes back upon you 3 times over. If you insist on doing evil or wrong always remember that it will come back upon you three fold. 5. The Pentacle, a five pointed star encompassed by a circle, is the main symbol for witchcraft. The five points represent Spirit, Air, Fire, Earth, and Water. The circle around the pentacle can represent the deity, completely surrounding the star, representing the human body, and the God and Goddesses protection around it. Together this symbol represents the protection of the creator (the God and Goddess are concepts of the one God (creator)). For more information on the Pentacle you can click here. 6. A male Witch is simply a Witch, NOT a warlock. This may not seem like that important of a point, but it is true, a male Witch is a Witch. Gwion consumed the three magical drops and gained the wisdom which had been meant for her son - The rest of the brew is said to have turned to poison which caused the cauldron to split open - Cerridwen then pursued Gwion with the intent of destroying him - Gwion possessed the wisdom to evade her; as well he was able to shift his shape. He had eluded her until one day he turned into a grain of wheat, and she a black hen who ate Gwion - Nine months later she gave birth to a son, Taliesin, whom she bound in a leather sack and threw into the sea - Her son was rescued by Gwyddno and Elphin while fishing Circe - Greek mythology - A sorceress - Renowned for her enchantments, turned Odysseus' men into swine - She is sometimes said to be the daughter of Hecate , patron goddess of witchcraft and magic - Said to have controlled fate and forced creation and destruction with the braids in her hair - She is seen as both a moon goddess and a goddess of degrading love - Married to the King of Sarmaritans (whom she poisoned) - She was exiled to Aeaea where she built herself a palace and learned magic (it is said she casted a spell over the entire island so that whoever came there turned into an animal) - Slain by Telemachus who had married her daughter, Cassiphone Demeter - Greek Goddess of the fertile soil and agriculture - As a goddess of nature she also represents women, marriage, harmony, and health - Controls the seasons - She is acknowledged in the spring and autumn equinox celebrations - She bore a child, Kore with her brother Zeus - It is said that Zeus promised Kore to Hades without Demeter's knowledge. Wizards don't normally get involved with the craft known as witchcraft but i was invited in...so i guess i got lucky or cursed...to find out...   What is the best way to get started acurately so I learn the right way? (Learning witchcraft is easy, it is part of your soul if your a witch in nature, but the trick is to learn what type of witchy way you act and that is why witchcraft is as in "the proper way" rare, It is quite simple to take as a title or to label yourself something magical, the funny thing is, it as in nature teaches you what you are by the circles you create, as in what you attract or send away...) but if your looking for the right way as in magical aspects of witch you need only start with your body... Witchcraft is learning to be a witch not learning to understand something that is outside yourself.....) The candles are first.......white at the head, red and blue at the hands, and green and yellow at the feet....(i will tell you more when you are ready...)   How will i know what path is right for me? (There are 3 types of circles:   self :home   inner: personal space (outdoors) and the last is the outer: ( a land or area of power, charged or containing ) casting a circle,  you can't cast a circle,  you can draw, build or block (casting is a fake word in circle making) when you drawn a circle you use the tools to bind or summon as in the collecting of either of the basic elemental, geobased or kenetic energy in the area...) (you will see i tell my students)   I have been doing lots of reading but, most of reading has been on the history of witches. (saddly most of the tools of the modern witch as in the "witchcraft" items was used against them instead of for them.....(so history of the trials and the so called is all most basical know..( wicca still uses tools that the old witches that was didn't use..) only gypsy type women....did and the wand is laughable, glenda the good witch wand or is it salor moon..  I dont know why exactly but i feel drawn to that area,  how,  Its in all female blood to be connected to the natures seen or not, just by feeling... why, one of the many strange mysteries of being magical......... and why they have disappeared so to speak? ( Witches never disapeared, just refused to offer rope to be hung by: meaning that it is much easier for them to fit in and just look for others like themselves then rock the boat, and any who get in there way are quickly removed, but saddly most only turn to magic to gain, love/vengence, and foolish wishes, and they will gain, they just will be doing more in that field then they readly know...(long story)   Hope that helps......... I am middle age woman who is tired of life and doing all she can to rectify the situation. The World has certainly changed but not everyone has been able to keep up. I don't want to be left behind, but I am certainly not moving aside either.  I have tried magic, prayers to just about every religion but as of this date, nothing!! I have read all the self-help, philosophy books; Watched Oprah Winfrey-Dr.Phil and still nothing.  I am not an entrepreneur. I do not understand the Stock Market. I am not willing to become a Lawyer, Doctor, Police Officer, CEO. I can't afford therapy. I am tired of staying at home. I feel like a tired, bored housewife but I'm not married. Perhaps there is something deep down inside that just cannot accept the new order.  Maybe the Hard Wiring of the Old cannot be undone. They say if you're always negative the positive will never come.  DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO SMILE THROUGH YOUR TEARS? I was taught that God is strong enough to penetrate the negativity and help.  Somehow, that is not what's happening here. Wicca is today more a do it yourself help book for dummies, and it's not my own idea as well its a big group of them, thats why the title pagan was invoked to give a new face to the already changing religion known as wicca which it is seen as gettting great reviews now...but what about what made a witch a witch or is that all behind us because this new design want to claim it is the "fixed" witchcraft.....why is that?
